| "Wednesday, November 27th, 2007" -the date of my last post here. Less than 2 years ago, yet it seems like a lifetime. How is that possible? When I think of lifetimes, I think of at least 35 years. Long enough for people to have lived and made a difference in the world. And yes, I know that it's possible for a person as young as 10 years old to make a difference in the world, but the longer you live, the more you learn and can impart to the rest of humanity. I've been thinking alot lately on our responsibility as Christians to spread the Gospel throughout the world. What is the average Christian person's thinking on this I wonder? What do we consider our duty to be in this area? Is it just to say something every now and then to our friends about Christ, (in jest, maybe? Everything's safe when it's 'funny'.) or maybe mention God's name in a sentence once or twice when talking to relatives or strangers? Or are we constantly trying to find ways to incorporate God's Word, His instructions for life, into our lives, with everything we say and do? I know I don't. I'm usually more concerned about impressing the person I'm talking to with my worldly knowledge, or just knowledge in general. I want them to think me smart, intelligent in certain subjects, and wise enough to look up to. Isn't that what life is all about in the world today? Having a leg up on the next guy? Because if we are inferior in any way, we are lower on the food chain of life. But our goal as Christians should be the opposite. Not to be better, necessarily smarter, or even tougher than the next guy. Our goal should be to show others that we don't have to strive to beat their levels of intelligence or "street smarts'', we are already exactly where God wants us to be as His children. If we are His chosen people, our life's work should be that of *completely* knowing where we stand in God's eyes, not worrying about where we stand in men's. "Man looketh on the outward appearance, but God looketh on the heart." And part of knowing where we stand is knowing how to stand. Are we going to be closet Christians who only pray and worship when no one else is looking? Are we embarrassed of our faith? Maybe so. This is an extreme example of some Christians today. I don't think this is where most of us are. We're somewhere in the middle, in between being a "closet Christian" and a... we'll call them "Pharisees". Christians who like to proudly show how much they pray and give their tithes and offerings. To them, that proves what a good job they are doing of being Christians. But that's not what God wants from us. He wants us to be diligent in seeking out ways to spread His word. But I don't think most of is do that as often as we should. Like I said, I think most Christians today are somewhere in the middle, in between not saying anything and boasting way too much. We (I, at least)usually pray every day and read the Bible, but don't give testimony or praise to the Lord nearly as much as we should. I met someone just yesterday, a neighbor whom we'd never met, actually, who was the most spiritually refreshing person I've met in a long time. He was bringing us some furniture from his place and some weight benches for the boys. Every time someone said thank you to him for what he was doing for us, the first words out of his mouth were, "Praise the Lord, not me. Thanks be to God, not me." And then he would go on to explain what some of the things he brought were, or where he'd found it/what he'd used it for, ect. Totally a realistic, non-shallow person. You could tell that he wasn't talking to talk, he was just living his life the way he did every day, praising God in everything. As I watched him and talked with him, I couldn't help thinking, "What if every Christian I know was like this? What if everyone who knew and believed in Christ lived their life as this man did, praising God in evrything? Wouldn't the world be made aware of God's love to us so much faster?" Faster than what? you may ask. I praise the Lord, I give Him glory all the time! you might say. Perhaps we think so. But how many times a day do we actually say His name to others? Do we say "thank you" when someone gives us a compliment, or do we say "Glory be to God"? I know I am in dire need of help from the Lord in this area. I think I might say His name once a day at the most. And I know I don't give Him His due praise in everything as I should. So easy it is to slip into the social skin of the world today, where we can be "safe" Christians, still "cool" in our friends eyes, but still convincing ourselves that we are vigorous 24/7 servants of the Lord. Now I'm not saying that it's wrong to have fun or friends, or that we should go to the Amish extreme of not associating ourselves with the world at all. But we should be embracing the world with the arms of brothers and sisters in Christ, telling as many and all that we can about his never ending love for us. We can still have fun and goof off, as long as it's nothing sinful or downright stupid, but we should have Christ in the front of our minds, not the back, in everything we do. I hope you will all pray for me as I ask God for guidance in this area. I would hate to call myself "His good and faithful servant" when in truth I am nothing but a coward, hiding from my responsibility as His child.

| Hey everyone, I decided to do a pre-Thanksgiving post tonight since I won't have time tomorrow... so here it is.
It's been so long since Mom and I have cooked together (usually it's one of us or the other) that the saying "too many cooks in the kitchen" was almost true today as we were getting ready for the Thanksgiving meal coming up tomorrow.
There were two "pie-baking episodes" which I had to put on here for you guys lol It was soo funny.....
Episode #1: We had to add 2 cups of milk to the pumpkin pie batter- I was mixing it up, while Mom was making the crust. Being about 4-5 Tblsp. short of the required 2 c. milk, I went over to the sink and added a shot of water to the 2 c. measure I held in my hand. As I added it to the pumpkin mixture, Mom asked fearfully, "What are you adding to that?" I replied in a mild voice, "We were a little short of milk, so I added some water." Mom's frantic response: "Hannah, you never add water to pumpkin pies!!" I said, "It was only a few tablespoons." Mom said, "It was not," while looking at the pies with such a look of sorrow on her face that I had to swallow a smile. It strikes me as funny how even though I've been baking and cooking on my own since age 10, and Mom herself was the one to teach me, she still thinks I wouldn't ever be able to do anything right without her direction lol (In the nicest possible way)
Which leads to Episode #2:
I was mixing up the crumb topping for the pies, and I substituted brown sugar for the white which was called for in the recipe because, in my mind, brown sugar crumbles better than white and people like it better. But, unfortunately, my mother does not share my views on crumb topping. lol As I brought the bowl to the table to begin sprinkling the crumbs on the pies, Mom looked over my shoulder and said, "Why does it look like that?" I said, "Because I put in brown sugar instead of white." Mom: "You never use brown sugar in crumb topping, Han!" Me: "I always use brown sugar." Mom: "Well, just put it on." But she could only stand it for so long lol After watching me put the crumbs on one pie, she couldn't take it anymore- she said, "Give me that crumb topping." As I meekly handed over the bowl, once again I had to swallow a grin as she put in a handful of white sugar and started mixing it again. lol
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I love baking with Mom as I almost never get to, but when we get together in the kitchen, look out! lol
Well, it's getting late, so later!
~Cruella
P.S. Oh yes, there was one other little "tiff" which occurred later on... lol
As we finished cleaning up after I slid the last pie in the oven, I prepared to go outside for something. As I was stepping out the door, Mom said, "And you know when these went in, right? So we can time them?" I responded with a chuckle, "No, I don't time mine; I just take them out when they look done." LOL! (After which I fled out the door before I could become mortally wounded lol)
hahaha! HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!
| Hey there, any of my faithful friends who still come over here!
I've had a very busy summer this year, but, hopefully as things slow down for the winter, I'll be able to keep up with this more frequently than I have been, though that's practically been none at all lol But I won't bore you with excuses, just get right to my post......
Today's entry will be about the Barn Party which we had this past Friday, and which was tons of fun.  Unfortunately our camera's usb cord has mysteriously disappeared, so I don't have any photos to share... but I'm sure if you check out the Einwechter boys' blog in a week, they'll have lots of good pics up from it.
We had almost everyone from church over, all the guys from my dad's work, and practically everyone else we knew, over for our 'Barn Party'... if that's the right name for it lol We had a big campfire for people to roast hotdogs on, and to talk around, and then we had tables and straw bales and benches in one of our big barns to put other food, desserts, and drinks on. We had the barn lit up so people could eat and talk inside, and after a couple of hours the "Einwechter Bluegrass Band" as my dad calls them, honored us with some of their wonderful music playing. It was lots of fun, we had lots of good fellowship and food, (what more could you ask for right? ) and everyone absolutely LOVED the music... we also had two of our other friends play the harmonica and accordion with the E.'s, and they sounded really good together. Afterwards, we told auto accident horror stories 'til around 11:00-11:30, then dragged ourselves and the rest of the food into the house. lol We have soo much apple cider and hotdogs leftover, you wouldn't believe it... but as we all agree on, it's better to have more than enough than not enough food when you're feeding a crowd... especially when about 1/4 of the crowd are teenage boys!!! lol So, it was lots of fun, and we had beautiful weather for it... and I hope we can do it again next year.
I will try to keep up with my posting in the following weeks, but if I don't... I'll be sure to post an excuse why I didn't lol
Til then, ~Hannah
A question that was asked of me pertaining to my new job that struck me as funny:
"So, I guess when you're picking up dead chickens, the ones that don't run away from you when you're close up to them are the dead ones?"
LOL *dies* (And yes, the person who asked this was above 12 years of age) ~Til later, Han
